The Catholic Society
Rediscover Your Faith in a Mature and Conscious Way
"And how can they hear without someone to preach?" (Romans 10:14).
The purpose of The Catholic Society is to provide Christians and all those of good will with a website that provides a clear and meaningful presentation of the Christian Religion.
We firmly believe that the Christian Religion is God's plan for the salvation of all people and that the Roman Catholic Church is the Bride of Christ and the visible sign and instrument of humanity's close union with God, as the Second Vatican Council proclaimed in the Dogmatic Constitution of the Church, Lumen Gentium.
We intend to present the Christian Faith through brief yet substantive summaries of the four foundations of the Christian life: the Apostles' Creed, the Sacraments, the Ten Commandments, and the Lord's Prayer.
As the Catechism of the Catholic Church states in the opening on Christian Prayer:
Great is the mystery of the faith! The Church professes this mystery in the Apostles' Creed, and celebrates it in the sacramental liturgy, so that the faithful may be conformed to Christ in the Holy Spirit to the glory of God the Father. This mystery then requires that the faithful believe in it, that they celebrate it, and that they live it in a vital and personal relationship with the living and true God. This relationship is prayer, (CCC, 2558).
We will focus heavily upon the writings of the great Pope, John Paul II, the new Pope, Benedict XVI, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, other Church documents, and our own experience of the Faith. We also desire to present a Pro-Life Site that provides fundamental information about the evil of abortion and why it must be stopped. We will also provide some of the more interesting news stories of the day.
